Future Prospects

The EcoTransIT-project partners are continuously improving the tool. We regularly update the data in these fields:

• Quantification of polluting emissions
• Technical improvements in each mode of transportation
• Changes to the network of transport infrastructure

Our plans for further improvements include:

• Updating the tool according to the latest IT technology
• Optimisation of intermodal transport chains: for example adding the number of trailers or containers
• Modification of the transport route: for example implementing the choice to include or exclude ferries; define the route via stations; include restricted border crossings
• Display of transport routes
• Improve the tool’s useability: for example by improving the print settings
• Integrate any transhipments at frontier crossings, or those occurring in piggybacking
