First EcoTransIT Stakeholder Workshop 5th of October 2010 in Paris

Global trade and transport of goods are the vital lines of our modern way of life. However, transport consumes natural resources that are limited and significantly contributes to global warming. Hence logistics providers as well as shippers increasingly need to know the environmental impact of freight movements along the supply chain for reporting requirements and in order to reduce this impact.

The online calculator EcoTransIT World provides carbon footprints, energy consumption and exhaust emissions of logistical chains including all transport modes - rail, road, air, inland and deep sea shipping - on a global level free of charge. EcoTransIT has been recognised as Official Partner to the European Commission Campaign "Sustainable Energy Europe".

In order to discuss the issues connected with greening logistics in depth and to explain the manifold features of the tool, the EcoTransIT consortium kindly invites all sector experts to attend the First EcoTransIT Stakeholder Workshop on 5th of October 2010 at the premises of the International Union of Railways (UIC) in Paris.

The workshop will be held in English and is free of charge!

Workshop Programme
Participants will be introduced to data and methodology of the online calculator and its features to support green accounting and green logistics activities. Within parallel in-depth workshop sessions their needs and requirements, their expectations and concerns will be analyzed and considered in order to envisage a commonly accepted method for carbon foot-printing. Further, they may learn about how to take part in the development of the tool and join the EcoTransIT consortium.
